2016 Day of Change
To celebrate more than 40 years of keeping families close, October 15th has been designated as Ronald McDonald House Charities’® (RMHC®) Day of Change. RMHC of the Philadelphia Region invites individuals, businesses and community groups to support local families with critically-ill children by visiting participating McDonald’s on October 15th and dropping spare change into a RMHC® Donation Box.
Over the years, coins donated globally through the Donation Box program totaled more than $52 million in support of nearly six million children and families. The RMHC Day of Change is the charity’s annual call to act to support families with children facing medical crises. A full Donation Box could mean one night at a Ronald McDonald House for a family while their child receives medical treatment, a dental screening for a child aboard a Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, or meals and snacks and a comfortable place to rest, just steps from a child in the NICU, inside a hospital in a Ronald McDonald Family Room.
Locally, all Day of Change proceeds go towards funding RMHC’s four Ronald McDonald houses, 16 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in area hospitals, approximately $130,000 annual in student scholarships to Philadelphia Region high school seniors, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to local nonprofit organizations.
