Staying with us
Whether for a short stay or for weeks at a time, we provide a temporary residence to families with the comforts of home as well the support of our dedicated staff and volunteers. Our Chestnut Street House is located in University City, and our Front & Erie House is located in North Philadelphia.
Families with children on the Oncology floor at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia or in the Critical Care Unit of St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children may utilize the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms located there.
Family Support Services
The Family Support Team offers compassionate assistance to all families staying at Ronald McDonald House – Philadelphia, where the health and well-being of the entire family is our number one priority. The Family Support Team consists of Family Services, Social Work, and the Activities and Education Programs.
The Family Service staff is available 7 days a week to help the family with their room request, learn more about the House and navigate their stay with us.
Our Activities Program provides opportunities for creativity and play designed to bring moments of respite to adults and children staying at the House. Activities are generally scheduled on weeknights and weekends during the hours that most of our families are in the House. Individual activity kits are available for children/families who are unable to participate in person or to use while they are at the hospital.
Additional Family Activity Areas include an Art and Education Room, Movie Theater, Fitness Center, Game Rooms and Free Play Spaces.
Our team of Masters Level Social Workers work in close partnership with the family to provide emotional support and address their unique concerns. A Welcome Meeting is generally scheduled after a family checks into the House and is either in person or by phone depending on the family’s preference. The Welcome Meeting is designed for the family to meet House social workers, learn about social and family support that is available, and receive assistance with specific resources to address their needs. Social workers provide needed support throughout the length of the family stay.
