House Policies

The following procedures are in place to ensure the health, safety, and overall wellness of all Guest Families during their stay with us.

Family Caregivers/Support People

  • Up to four Caregivers/Support People are eligible to stay only if they are approved by the Hospital as designated visitors of the patient.
  • Siblings are eligible to stay or visit the House only if they are approved to visit the Hospital.

Visitors

  • We are not allowing any visitors in the House at any time except those who have contacted Family Services, have checked in to stay with the family, and are hospital approved as visitors of the patient.

Parking and Transportation

  • There is no on-site parking available at the Chestnut Street House. One vehicle per family is permitted to park for free at the Buerger Center near CHOP. All family vehicles must be registered at the Front Desk for families staying in either House.
  • Our volunteer run shuttle service is available 7 days a week for transport between the House, CHOP, and the Buerger Center. Please contact the Front Desk for more specific information on when the shuttle runs as availability is subject to change.
  • On-site parking is available at our Front & Erie House along with transportation to Shriners Hospital through their shuttle service. Please contact Shriners for their Shuttle’s hours of operation.

Masking and Daily Wellness Checks

  • Masking is optional at this time. We will continue to inform our policies based on guidelines from the Philadelphia Department of Health and our many Hospital partners.
  • Masks are required for guests who are not feeling well and/or are exhibiting symptoms of illness.
  • We respect families who continue to mask.
  • When interacting with families, RMHC staff will mask when a family requests they do so
  • Guest families of the House are responsible for ensuring that daily wellness and temperature checks are completed.

Room Maintenance and Checkout

  • We ask for families to maintain the cleanliness of their own room by disposing of trash in the trash room and by using the laundry room located on each floor to wash linens and towels
  • Families must check out at the front desk and return their room keys before returning home
