Ronald McDonald Family Rooms
We offer two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in the Oncology Unit at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) on the oncology unit and in the Seashore House. An additional Family Room is located in the Critical Care Unit at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.
Families with hospitalized children spend day after day at their child’s bedside, offering comfort and trying to make a very scary time a little less frightening. Children facing serious diagnoses often spend weeks or even months at a time in the hospital during their treatment, while their parents, grandparents, and other caregivers stay right by their side—making sure they never feel alone despite being far from home.
Our Ronald McDonald Family Rooms extend the support of our two Ronald McDonald Houses into the hospital by offering a quiet, comfortable respite place for caregivers to rest and regroup during their children’s treatment—helping them to reduce stress and focus on their own health and well-being while they take care of their children. These welcoming hospitality lounges are designed to help parent and guardians forget they are in a hospital setting, even though they are just steps from their children’s beds.
Ronald McDonald Camp takes place in the Poconos every summer.
Ronald McDonald Camp
Each August, over two hundred campers pack their bags and head to Ronald McDonald Camp. Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains, Ronald McDonald Camp offers a week-long overnight camp for children with cancer and their siblings.
Ronald McDonald Care Mobile
The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, operated in partnership with St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children, provides comprehensive and continuous oral healthcare to children in North Philadelphia. There is a critical need in this area, and the Care Mobile removes barriers so that children who most need dental and oral health care and treatment can access care and prevent their oral health conditions from worsening. There is currently no other program that provides such services to the youngest residents of North Philadelphia. We visit patients at Head Start communities, early childhood centers, elementary schools, and shelters. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is a Dental Home: it provides an ongoing relationship between the dentist and the patient in a continually accessible, family-centered way.
