Dot began volunteering at the House five years ago, initially in the kitchen and now, since 2020, has been filling boxes for the Fresh to You program.

“These families need this food, and I’m here to ensure they get it,” says Dot.

The Fresh to You Program partners with St. Christopher to deliver farm-fresh food boxes to families in need. RMHC’s role is boxing the food that is delivered to the House and is then distributed to the families by Food Connect. In 2023, over 2,580 boxes of food were distributed.

“It’s all about reaching out to the community, extending care beyond these walls,” Dot emphasizes.

Dot comes every Tuesday to ensure the boxes are filled with all the food the families will need.

“I look forward to being here,” she shares. “Knowing that each box I fill brings nourishment and hope to a family—that’s what keeps me going.”

When she’s not filling boxes, she’s prepping food in the kitchen, helping wherever she can.

“I talk to some of the guests,” Dot says. “Just being there for someone means everything to me.”
